Spotlight Brand: Primeros Regionals Cuban

February 6, 2008 |

A Cuban-Esque blend you can enjoy everyday.

From the line of cigars well known for their extreme value driven price comes the Primeros Regionals take on classic Cuban flavor and body. The Primeros Regionals brand built its reputation on value. Defying skeptics, Primeros Regionals offer their flavorful blends to consumers for couch cushion change. Having succeeded in creating a quality '1st' for the price of a '2nd', there was an immediate interest in the brand and following the original roll-out of bundles, sell-outs were soon seen across the lines. Inventory has increased to meet the demand, and after several new Primeros blends were produced, the brand's portfolio boasts FIVE variations overall, each made with tobaccos from a different region of the tobacco growing world.

Primeros Regionals Cuban was the 5th and final installment in the line. Since Cuban cigars are still illegal, these boldly nuanced beauties are made in Nicaragua. But when you enjoy them, you’ll note the subtle spices and a natural light sweetness on the finish. They produce a ton of aromatic, creamy smoke that will surround your senses with sublime satisfaction. All leaf used in the blend are from Cuban-seed tobacco plants including its captivating Corojo wrapper. If you like your cigars on the strong side, but smooth from start to finish, Primeros Regionals Cuban will be a new everyday favorite.

Q & A: What is a Puro?

Q.
Some cigar descriptions refer to a puro, what is that?

2/04/08 | by LK of El Paso, TX

A.
A "puro" defines a cigar made entirely of tobaccos grown in one country: wrapper, binder, and fillers. Many cigars utilize different tobaccos grown from countries all over the world to create complex flavors and enjoyable experiences, especially for the experienced enthusiast. In today's day and age, a "puro" can be a rare find, since creating a complex cigar using all tobacco from one region can be a challenge. However, some of today’s makers are quite talented and can achieve this feat, making a puro a special treat.

Review:

Bryan Graycliff Double Espresso
From the first puff, the palate is engulfed with rich, earthy flavors that continue to build as the cigar burns. The wrapper appears to be flawless, showing some tooth and veins, while burning evenly throughout. The strength cannot be under estimated. By the third inch, the cigar is very robust and does give off some slightly sweet nuances. However, these are carefully masked by the intense strength and spice of ligero tobaccos. A full bodied masterpiece.
