Cigar of the Month Club Video Review: September 2023

Blending a cigar requires the same knowledge and high-quality ingredients that a Michelin Star chef possesses when preparing a dish: without mastery of the craft, everything falls flat. In this month’s selection, our Experts have chosen five premiums that embody the depths of flavor expected when enjoying top-notch handmades.

Launched just before the world went into lockdown, the Cohiba Royale comes with two firsts for the legendary brand: 1) it utilizes a Broadleaf wrapper grown in Nicaragua, and 2) it was rolled in Honduras.

JFR means “Just for Retailers,” but its popularity convinced Aganorsa to make it available beyond brick-and-mortar shops; with the Lunatic Maduro, however, the brand once again explores Mexican San Andrés tobacco. Borrowing some nomenclature, the Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure Selección looks and feels like its Cuban counterpart that a quick glance might have you thinking it’s not from Honduras.

Released in 2019, the Joya de Nicaragua Antaño Connecticut is a two-pronged tale: the intensity of the original Antaño reimagined with a Connecticut-seed wrapper slightly dialing back strength. And finally, Ramon Bueso Genesis Connecticut is the brainchild of a man with 40+ years of experience, having studied under Cuban-born industry legends who luckily shared their secrets.
