H. Upmann Gets a New Barber Pole.
A 2023 edition to the historic H. Upmann portfolio, the 1844 Special Edition Barbier uses Ecuadorian Connecticut and Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper leaves to create its iconic barber pole design. The blend is completed with a Indonesian binder atop a mix of Nicaraguan, Dominican, and Broadleaf tobaccos of undisclosed origin for its long-filler leaves. Rolled at Tabacalera de García in the Dominican Republic, Barbier is the German word for "Barber;" it's also a nod to Hermann Upmann, the German banker and namesake behind H. Upmann cigars.
The two wrappers work together to create an entirely new flavor profile and level of complexity which can be appreciated by the enthusiast and aficionado alike. Medium-bodied, each Barbier excites the palate with notes of cedar, citrus, light spice, and a natural sweetness on the finish.
