Spotlight Brand: New World Connecticut by AJ Fernandez

July 17, 2015 |

The cream of the Connecticut Shade crop!

Created as a tribute to Christopher Columbus and the discovery of tobacco in 1492, the original New World was the 1st official brand crafted by AJ with assistance from his father, Ismael. Dark and decadent, these box-pressed premiums received rave reviews, which resulted in the release of three New World line extensions. If you prefer smooth and mellow cigars that still are able to maintain more than a moderate amount of complexity to their profiles, you should peruse the products below and get to know New World Connecticut.

Unlike its sharply-pressed predecessor, New World Connecticut is rolled in-the-round, with a list of ingredients consisting of genuine US Connecticut Shade wrappers, binders from the San Andres Valley, and lush long-fillers from both Brazil and Nicaragua. This recipe results in a rewarding, easy-to-enjoy cigar experience that will impress in every facet: rich & creamy profile, alluring room note, and an affordable, everyday price. The complete package!

Q & A: Bachelor Party Cigars?

Q.
I got a bachelor party coming up in the fall and all my buddies want me to bring cigars since I’m the group’s “cigar guy”. Any recommendations?

I’m sure many can relate to being the only “cigar guy” in the group. And try being that guy when you work for a cigar company. I can’t see a member of my family without getting shook down for some free stogies. Grandma is particularly aggressive, but I digress.

I think in a situation like this, you take the chance to educate some of your buddies. Instead of bringing along those turds at the bottom of your humidor, pick up something that is well-made but at a tremendous value and that remains mellow-bodied. Think 5 Vegas Gold or Ramon Bueso Odyssey. You don’t want to turn them off with a full-bodied cigar. And when you present the cigars, take the time to properly instruct them on how to cut, light, and enjoy a cigar. Remember, these guys are probably total novices so if you help them along the way, you may yourself with a few extra enthusiasts that can share our obsession.
