Spotlight Brand: Diesel Wicked

December 2, 2012 |

Something wicked this way comes...again.

This highly-lauded handmade from the beloved Diesel brand was originally released in 2012 and experienced a swift sellout. Everything fans have come to expect from the coveted Diesel Wicked blend remains the same—extraordinary complexity coupled with ultra-premium tobacco leaves makes for one high-class, super sophisticated experience.

On the outside, a super oily Pennsylvania Broadleaf Maduro ligero leaf conceals a bold array of long-leaf ligero fillers from Nicaragua's most fertile regions. The binder, picked from the top primings of Nicaragua's best Habano leaves, also adds some potent, earthy flavors which contribute to the smooth and long-lasting finish. Created for the thoroughly experienced aficionado, Diesel Wicked expels full-bodied, full-flavored depth, filling your palate with peppery-spice and roasted coffee bean while leaving behind a bold, leathery feel. The taste is unforgettable, and another quick sellout is likely. Act quickly on this one.

Q & A: Binders?

Q.
What is a binder and what does it do?

A.
There are three major components that make up every hand made cigar: wrapper, binder, and filler. The wrapper is the leaf you see on the outside of a cigar and the filler is the bunch of tobacco you see when you look at the foot of a cigar. The binder wraps the filler, keeping it "bound" together and is then concealed by the wrapper, so it falls inbetween the wrapper and filler. The leaves used for binders are of lower quality aesthetically, since they get covered up by higher quality wrapper leaves. The binder's main purpose is to hold the filler tobaccos together while the cigar gets put into a press. However, the binder can easily contribute to a cigar's flavor profile. Think of the binder the same way as you would think when adding a pinch of salt when cooking: it doesn't change the base flavors of a cigar, it just accentuates them.
