Scotch and Cigars

|
|

Scotch and cigars go together like peanut butter and jelly, pizza and beer, spaghetti and meatballs… you get the point and are probably hungry now. Anyways, knowing what scotch to pair with your cigar for a relaxing evening is all in your taste preference. If you’re new to cigars and don’t have a clue of where to start, a good rule to go by is to match body weights by pairing lighter scotches with mellower cigars and heavier scotches with full-bodied cigars.

Creating a perfect scotch and cigar pairing takes time and a lot of cigar smoking and scotch drinking to be able to pick flavors that work in harmony together. If you’re not quite there yet, here are some options to start off with:

Bowmore Scotch is produced on the Isle of Islay in Scotland and is one of the oldest distilleries there. This scotch pairs great with full-bodied cigars like DieselCAO, and Punch.

Cutty Sark is light, refreshing, and easy to drink. Pair it with a light to medium-bodied cigar like 5 Vegas Gold, ACID, and Mark Twain.

Glenfiddich Special Reserve 12-Year-Old is a creamy, smooth, and mellow single-malt scotch that pairs great with mellow to medium-bodied cigars like Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real, Arturo Fuente, and Ave Maria Immaculata.

Springbank 15-year-old is dark and delicious, and 21-year-old is a creamy single-malt with unbelievable complexity. Both pair nicely with a spicy full-bodied cigar like Camacho Triple Maduro, Pistoff Krisoff, and San Cristobal Ovation.
