One of the most popular cigar brands on the planet.
Carlos Fuente Jr. is the fourth generation of his family in the tobacco business and in recent years, Fuente cigars have become the most popular cigar made in the Dominican Republic. A combination of experience and some of the best tobacco the country has to offer has put Fuente cigars at the top of the ratings. Arturo Fuente cigars are without a doubt the most demanded cigar and, at times, they can be very hard to find.
The Gran Reserva line is the flagship of the Fuente brand and comes in a variety of shapes and sizes. Built to burn slow and steady, Gran Reserva cigars feature a core recipe of well-aged Dominican tobaccos carefully cloaked by one of four different wrappers: a natural African Cameroon, dark Maduro, Connecticut Shade-Grown (Seleccion d'Oro), and an emerald green Claro Candela. No matter what option you choose, Gran Reserva cigars start off silky smooth with a nice subtle natural sweetness to the smoke. Expect these crowd-pleasers to build in body as they burn, and by the final third these could be considered medium-bodied. See why Arturo Fuente Gran Reservas are all-time best-sellers across the board and across the world!
This AF 858 Flor Fina Candela is a delightful, delicious cigar, and my current favorite among the verdant. Dont let the Mild/Medium tag put you off, this is a tasty, flavorful stick that rewards the smoker with a complex if subdued palette that includes tea, cedar, hay, citrus, and a hint of sweetness in the wrapper. Is it true that the chlorophyll preserved by the Candela curing process is responsible for this sweetness? I dont know, but I like it. Ive bought more of these, knowing that Ill want to enjoy this experience again.
Smoky and smooth.
I gave this an 8, on the 1-10 scale. Uneven burn but nice flavor and finish. Worth having in your humidor for quick smokes.
