A '91' rated, five-country blend.
Rated '91' by Cigar Aficionado, Alec Bradley MAXX features an impressive blend of tobaccos from Honduras, Costa Rica, Colombia, Nicaragua, and Mexico. While MAXX is exceptionally complex and flavorful, it remains balanced from start to finish. The hearty and rich flavor, with chocolate, charred meats, and a slight hint of sweet licorice on the finish, is thanks in large part to the unique utilization of two leaves in particular—a dark Nicaraguan Maduro wrapper and an especially choice Costa Rican binder leaf. Along with a 4-country long-filler blend, this remarkable recipe results in a unique and memorable cigar experience.
I had one of these for the first time last night and I think I will be adding this into the regular rotation. For the price you get like a full acre of tobacco rolled up in this gigantic thing. It had some really good flavors all the way through.
All hail "The Fix". My favorite Alec Bradley stick & that's saying a mouthful. Maxx is exactly that, the max! A jaw stretching 58 ring gauge on a 5" frame, The Fix emits clouds of luxurious smoke, that is filled with full bodied spice that lingers long on the palate. A cool, slow burn & a firm white ash accompany an hour long puff fest of cocoa & earth, black tobacco & anise. Just a terrific flavor profile, that is both hard hitting & smooth, even mellow at times, throughout the entire smoke. A great after dinner treat, I look for them at a discount, yet they are really worth the $5+ asking price. Highly recommended, receiving amy highest, a full 5 vitola rating. I can't wait to try these in the Nano, gordo corona size, as well as the Maxx Brazil versions.
This gordo robusto wrapped in a chocolate brown maduro leaf, is one of my favorite medium/full bodied smokes right now. Chewy & eventful clouds of thick white smoke billow from its massive frame. Hints of cocoa, chocolate & sweet spices linger on the palate between puffs. Well constructed, firm & heavy, expect to see a salt & Pepper ash that has to be rolled off at 1 1/2". Boasting ratings of 91, I give it 4 1/2 vitola, a near perfect score. I got 10 @ $3 apiece & hope to find a similiar bargain on this stogie here at Cigars.com. A super buy if they can be obtained so inexpensively.
Hottest cigar maker anywhere? If you are asking me, it's Alec Bradley, hands down. Lots of delicious, 90+ rated blends to choose from & a price that makes it possible to actually buy a few & squirrel them away. Maxx is no exception to the rule at AB. Make a damn good cigar, at an affordable price. This $5 stogie is flawless & tips the scale at a massive 5" X 58. A gordo robusto, if I'm not mistaken. Anyway, the flavor profile is unreal. Truly medium bodied, crammed full of chocolaty, spicy goodness, I declare this to be my favorite maduro wrapped cigar. Just exceeding my $5 limit, I'm giving Alec a pass on this one. 5 vitolas, only because that's as high as my rating goes. I see well deserved 91 ratings in the catalogs & online. Highly recommended to maduro lovers & medium/full bodied smokers. One hell of a $5/1hr. smoking experience. Bravo, once again, Alec Bradley.
