Pledge Purple is a commemorative, limited edition extension of the acclaimed Perez Carrillo Pledge line, created to honor the Pledge Prequel that earned a 98 point score and the No. 1 Cigar of 2020. Rolled at the Casa Carrillo factory in the Dominican Republic, this toro measures 6 inches by 54 ring gauge and showcases a Connecticut grown Havana seed wrapper from Dunn & Foster in Connecticut, the very same crop used on the original Pledge, now aged for nearly a decade. Beneath that extra aged wrapper sits a Mexican binder and a Nicaraguan filler blend drawn from Estelí, Condega and Ometepe, crafted into a full bodied profile that revisits the original concept with a more mature, rarefied expression.
This release is both a tribute and a time capsule. Brand owner and master blender Ernesto Perez Carrillo set aside bales of the original Pledge wrapper tobacco specifically for further aging, and Pledge Purple is the result of that long term vision. With only 3,500 boxes produced, Pledge Purple offers a limited opportunity to experience the same celebrated wrapper from that first batch, now transformed by years of additional rest and paired with a refreshed Mexican and Nicaraguan core.
