Aksum is the latest from Nick Melillo and his company, Foundation Cigars, inspired by the biblical Kingdom of Aksumite Kingdom. According to legend, this Kingdom is the resting ground for the Ark of the Covenant.
Wrapped in an Ecuadorian Sumatra leaf - a first for Foundation - each Aksum also consists of a Connecticut Broadleaf binder and Nicaraguan long-fillers. Rolled at Tabacalera Fernandez, it's offered in four soft-pressed vitolas. Melillo cites his desire to introduce a blend that centers around an Ecuadorian Sumatra leaf, and thus Aksum was the grand result. The Aksum brand embodies the essence of Nicaraguan craftsmanship, celebrating the passion of the country’s cigar culture.
Please note the Foundation Metapa has recently gone through a re-branding to the Foundation Aksum. The blend is the same as the Metapa, but the cigar will have different bands and packaging.
