Muestra is the everyday Nicaraguan word for “sample,” but inside a handmade cigar factory it becomes something far more meaningful. A muestra represents the ligador’s intent and the torcedor’s craft brought to life, a glimpse into a future blend and sometimes the deciding factor in a factory’s success. These cigars are treasured by the people who create them and by smokers who want to understand the soul of the maker through the smoke. Steve Saka of Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust builds on this tradition with his belief in cigars without compromise, insisting that every cigar leaving his hands meets his standards.

Muestra de Saka is his personal workshop, a series of unique blends and vitolas produced in extremely limited quantities. Each release reflects a different idea, challenge or experiment, often using tobaccos he is less familiar with to create something that expands his own experience. To smoke one is to join Saka on that exploration.


Exclusivo
Wrapped in Ecuador Habano Rosado with a San Andrés Negro binder and Nicaraguan fillers from Jalapa, Condega, Ometepe and Estelí, each aged a minimum of five years, the Exclusivo is Saka’s tribute to Nicaraguan fillers. It opens silky with sweet cedar and cinnamon, then builds to a medium body with the texture of crème brûlée and soft pepper. A detailed, balanced liga that rewards attention.

Krakatoa
Krakatoa is a robust liga built from Nicaraguan grown Broadleaf, Cuban Seed Criollo and potent Corojo ligero fillers bound with a Nicaraguan Sungrown capote and finished in a Grade A1 Ecuador Habano wrapper. The blend took more than three years to perfect and delivers a sweet, spicy profile with refined power. A few retrohales reveal the depth and strength woven into this puro.

Nacatamale
The Nacatamale uses an all Nicaraguan recipe for wrapper, binder and filler, crafted in the old “viejo granja” style where the entire filler blend comes from a single farm. The result is not the most complex cigar in the series, but it is deeply flavorful with satisfying spice and a lingering finish. Nacatamale is one of Saka’s personal favorites.

The Bewitched
The Bewitched pairs a Grade 1 Ecuador Habano wrapper with a Cultivo Tonto San Andrés Negro binder and fillers from Nicaragua and the United States. Rolled in a 6.63” x 48 prensado with a spiral pig tail, it offers notes of chocolate, pistachio, citrus peel, caramel, cedar and tempered spice in a medium plus body. Originally crafted for the anniversary of a single shop, the blend proved too captivating not to share more widely, with a limited number of these coffin-contained handmades released every year.

Unstolen Valor
Created not by Saka but by Sr. Raul Disla of NACSA, Unstolen Valor features a Habano 2000 wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and fillers from Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic and US Connecticut. The profile is an experience of peppercorns, beginning with green peppercorn aromatics, moving into richer Tellicherry black pepper and finishing with the racier notes of white pepper. Cedar like sweetness ties the transitions together with impressive balance.
