Rolled by Nestor Plasencia, one of Central America's top premium cigar makers and the world's single largest grower of Cuban-seed tobacco, his beloved Cuba Libre blend is a unique mix of aged Cuban seed long-fillers bound with an authentic, exquisite Corojo wrapper—a wrapper selected specifically for its oily texture and robust flavor. This project is near and dear to the Plasencia family because, as a younger man, Nestor was driven out of Cuba and his tobacco, farms, and factories were confiscated by Castro. He often talks of one day returning to a “free Cuba” to continue his family's five-generation tobacco tradition. So as you might imagine, this blend was one he poured his heart and soul into, and the result is nothing less than extraordinary. In fact, it's possibly the finest to ever come out of his factory. That's really saying something, considering Nestor's factories craft most of Rocky Patel's blends, MAXX by Alec Bradley, and some Gurkha lines, among others.
