Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real Nicaragua Profundo is the next chapter in the Reserva Real story, created as a darker, richer follow up to the original Dominican Reserva Real and the Reserva Real Nicaragua. Altadis U.S.A. once again tapped A.J. Fernandez and Rafael Nodal for this project, with production handled at Fernandez’s San Lotano factory in Nicaragua. The line is an all-Nicaraguan puro, conceived to showcase a more modern, fuller expression of the Romeo y Julieta profile while preserving the brand’s trademark smoothness. Its presentation carries a purple band that blends the red of the classic Reserva Real with the blue of Reserva Real Nicaragua, signaling the fusion of heritage and this new Nicaraguan direction.
On the outermost layer of the Profundo is a Nicaraguan Oscuro wrapper that has undergone extra fermentation, over Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos grown on Fernandez’s farms. The result is a medium to full bodied profile with layered notes of espresso, dark chocolate, earth, pepper, dried fruit and sweetness that lingers on the finish.
