Belle Encre gets a Mexican makeover for Tatuaje's 20th anniversary.
In the spirit of lending new life to specific vitolas in older blends, Tatuaje has released the Belle Encre Tuxtla, now with a Mexican San Andrés wrapper. Originally released as an LE in 2013 to commemorate Tatuaje’s 10th anniversary, this revamped Perfecto coincides with the boutique brand’s 20th anniversary with only 2500 boxes having been produced.
Owner Pete Johnson replaced the original blend’s Ecuadorian wrapper in favor of a San Andrés leaf from Mexico’s Tuxtla region. This 2023 edition provides the palate with a more intense, medium to full-bodied smoking experience. An initial spice bouquet dominates the first third, and by the mid-point through the finish, notes of caramel, cedar, dark chocolate, and earth emerge to balance out the entire profile. With numerous pairing opportunities, our Experts recommend choosing an espresso, full-bodied red wine, or rye whiskey while enjoying the Belle Encre Tuxtla blend.
