Protocol was founded by two NYPD officers, Juan Cancel & Bill Ives who grew the brand while staying on the force full-time. In 2015 they launched Protocol nationally at IPCPR, with master blender Erik Espinosa at the helm of production in the La Zona cigar factory located in Esteli, Nicaragua. This boutique brand quickly rose in popularity for making full bodied sticks with complex profiles.
This is their inaugural blend, and features a blend that includes four Ligero leaves in the filler, with a Nicaraguan Habano binder and a Habano Oscuro wrapper. Protocol it’s a hefty cigar with the additional Ligero allowing for a longer burn time. Protocol (Blue) features notes of spice and dark cocoa. In boxes of 10, these are a must try in a size that encourages exploration.
