Each Family Reserve release was flawlessly executed in presentation, profile of flavor, and historical appropriation. All variations are rolled in a single unique vitola, with two wrapper options, Habano and Maduro. That said, the core interior tobaccos of the Family Reserve recipes are relatively the same: a blend of Nicaragua's finest long-leaf aged at least 10 years. But, the different size and shape of each 'Year' makes for a surprising amount of variety in taste, aromas, and the cigars' overall characteristics across the board. Bottom-line, they're all about as refined and rewarding as you'll find anywhere.
The '92' rated, box-pressed Family Reserve 46 Years is particularly exquisite. Relish in rich nuances of dark chocolate, roast nut, and coffee bean, beautifully balanced by leather, red pepper, and spice. Certainly has a kick to it, but the build in strength is gradual and, if the cigar is given time to rest between puffs, stays amazingly smooth from start to finish. A sublime smoking experience.
