Montecristo is recognized as one of the most popular cigars in the world. The brand was born in Cuba in 1935, the origins of which stem from a popular tradition in the old Cuban cigar factories where tales and stories were recited to the cigar rollers during the long work day. A popular story of the time was 'The Count of Montecristo', which was so popular the name became a brand all its own. The non-Cuban version of this cigar was introduced into the U.S. during the peak of the cigar boom in 1995, and has since been a best-seller.
