Jose Seijas returns to the cigar industry with the fulfillment of a lifelong dream, Matilde Renacer. While his name might not ring a bell, Jose Seijas spent nearly 40 years behind the scenes with his most recent stint, serving as vice president and general manager of Tabacalera de Garcia Ltd. In this post he shepherded the production of 60 million cigars annually including Montecristo, H. Upmann, and Romeo y Julieta. To say that Jose Seijas knows cigars would be a significant understatement.
In forming his new Dominican factory, Tabacalera la Matilde, Seijas only hired seasoned cigar smokers as his torcedores since they will have firsthand knowledge of cigars, and that is an important element in quality control. Jose Seijas wanted a small team that was as passionate as he in delivering cigars of uncompromising quality, and now with his own factory, he is finally free to make cigars in his own way.
Matilde Renacer is a bold, robust cigar sporting a rich and dark Ecuador Habana wrapper. The three country blend is completed with a Dominican binder and Nicaraguan and Dominican long leaves. Medium to full-bodied, Matilde Renacer boasts a whirlpool of rich and hearty flavors including molasses, cedar, coffee, spice, pepper, cream, and dark chocolate. Complex and balanced, Matilde Renacer is pure enjoyment in cigar form.
