AJ's finest creation...Manufactured at Tabacalera Fernandez in Nicaragua, Man O’ War cigars have gone from obscure start up to certifiable legend overnight. Now reigning as one of the top full-bodied blends in the business, Man O’ War remains as a center piece in humidors everywhere.
Man O’ War’s success stems from its rare and luscious Habano Ecuador wrapper. The leaf is taken from the upper middle portion of the plant, known as viso, which is where some of the richest, oiliest and most coveted tobacco can be found. These viso leaves are then put through a three-year fermentation process that is personally overseen by AJ Fernandez himself. Once this incredible wrapper is ready, it is combined with a blend of aged Nicaraguan fillers, harvested from three separate farms. AJ then personally proportions the tobacco, since this blend is one of his most closely guarded secrets, to create an incredibly rich and complex cigar that falls right in line with the best premium sticks on the market. These cigars have all been aged at least six additional months after being rolled, to ensure that the wrapper blends harmoniously with the complex mix of filler. Man O’ War produces hearty, earthy flavors with hints of cashews and almonds, that are masked by a peppery aftertaste and a touch of sugar. It’s easy to see how a blend this delicious has risen to the top of the class overnight.
I purchased this cigar from Cigar.com when it originally came out on August of 2008. I aged my last one and I smoked it in the Spring of 2014. Six years have done wonders to this cigar. It has developed rich flavors with tons of vanilla and cocoa notes. It is also extremely smooth. These cigars will mellow out beautifully if you have the patience!!
excellent smooth smoking cigar!
This is the best Cigar that I've had all year. And I had a Padron, New Years Day. I paired this stick with coffe and a descent meal prior. The smoke took about an hour 1/2 to smoke and I bet I took a draw, pulled the thing away from my face about 10 times and thought, "this is one hell of a cigar!" Smooth, mildly peppery, leather, and just a great balance. The burn was as even as I could ask it to be and the draw was just a touch resricted. But I like a resistant draw. I am writting this review 4 days after actually smoking this stick so I can't tell you the individual tastes and notes I recieved. But if I'm writting a review of this cigar believe me, it was very good.
This cigar was my first, of many, Man O' Wars. It starts off strong and gets a little bit more mellow...but it is definitely a "Man O' War"! There were about 2-3 flavor changes; I liked this cigar very much.
Tastey! I think this is comparable to $12 sticks in the same category. Amazing wrapper flavor, great smoke, and great draw all the way through. One of AJ's better efforts.
I purchased 2 variety samplers of this cigar (total of 40 sticks) when it first came out. At first I was pleased with the construction and the wrapper color, body, taste, etc. However, I have been aging some of these in my humidor for 10 months now and I am on the last 5. Now having gone through a number of them I am seeing consistency problems. The flavor and body are still good, but the draw is tough and the cigars keep going out. If you find these at a bargain, try them. DO NOT pay full price. There are far better out there.
VERY BEAUTIFUL INDEED WITH SHORT DRAW IT SEEMS LIKE I CANT STOP. COOL REFRESH DRAW EVERY FLAVOR IS ALMOST MAKED WITH EACH OTHER. ("MAN OF WAR IS ANOTHER OF MY PERSONAL FAVORITES MED TO FULL BODY")
Ordered the sampler and found the Toro to be the most well balanced of all the sizes. Great even burn, with a full-bodied smooth smoke. Hints of coffee, spice. Thoroughly enjoyed and now ordering a box.
