Man O' War Cigars Ruination: a full-bodied masterpiece from AJ Fernandez.Man O’ War Ruination pushes the envelope for full-bodied blends by perfectly matching strength, flavor, and body for a complex, yet balanced experience.Man O’ War was developed by Abdel "AJ" Fernandez, a Cuban-born cigar maker continuing three generations of tobacco mastery. After spending most of his life working with premium tobacco in Cuba, Abdel Fernandez moved to Nicaragua to begin producing his own cigars. Man O’ War Ruination features a hearty concoction of Cuban-seed Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos. Furthermore, these tobaccos are mostly ligero leaves, which add a ton of spice to the blend allowing for a bold, robust experience. The wrapper is a thick and oily Ecuadorian Habano leaf, with a look and aroma not much unlike leather. This blend is incredibly rich with flavors ranging from earth and leather to hints of oak. Ruination is an excellent addition to the Man O’ War line, and a must try for all fans of full-bodied, perfectly balanced blends.
One of AJ Fernandez's most popular and strongest blends. Except for the fact that they are a bit pricey for my regular budget, pretty much the perfect full-bodied vitola. You get all the normal AJ Fernandez attributes like spot on construction, firm, cool, smooth draw and complexity delivered with myriad flavors. Additionally, you get a full flavored sensory overload of a smoke that will leave you wanting more. 90-rated by my critical standards. Highly recommended to “fullheads.†Macanudo smokers should probably look elsewhere.
I actually thought this was a Maduro for quite awhile. Its very rich and deep with nuances of coffee and spice. It burns evenly and has a very smooth draw and a very clean finish. I'm still kind of new to cigars but I have yet to find a smoother Habano than the Ruination.
On my patio with a single batch bourbon after a nice Mother's Day meal and some great jazz playing in the background . The first 1/2 inch I actually broke a sweat from the spicy intense mouth filling smoke. My attention totally on the cigar. It settled down after the first inch to a really flavorful mix of strong peat and leather with a slightly sweet finish. Perfect draw and surgical burn...this is a well made cigar. This is a cigar to savor and not a golf course cigar. I would only offer this to experienced cigar smokers. It demands youur attention and rewards those who appreciate a well balanced full bodied cigar
Best cigar I have ever smoked!! Well maybe not the best but its defiantly in my top 3. I believe this could be AJ's best work. If I could find these cigars a little cheaper, like closer to $5-$6, the ruination would easily be my every day cigar.
I bought a Nicaraguan sampler and this cigar won first prize. The maximum strength and full bodied experience would make me choose this cigar over and over. This cigar shows you mean business and it delivers a great smoking experience.
What can I say? The Ruination satisfies time and time again. When struggling to decide on a smoke, I have never been disappointed with choosing this cigar. The oily wrapper and ligero leaves are an A+ combination and I look forward to my next run-in with this old friend.
Being new to the cigar world, i have been on the hunt for a cigar that fullfills my palet, and this one has definatley took off to the top of my list of soon to order cigars!!! love the flavors that it has, and i look foward to enjoying this cigar more often.
Yummy, yummy, yummy........ 'nuff said.
Just had this cigar a few minutes ago and I have to say it is one of my new favorites. The start was full of black pepper with a sweet after taste and after smoking it about an inch down the flavor mellowed out into a leathery, earthy flavor with hints of coffee, these flavors seemed to have their own spots throught the rest of this cigar standing out more than the other every now and then and ending with a slight sweet and spicy after taste that made it extremely hard to put out. well worth the price and a I will definitely be keeping these in my humidor.
