The rarest and most unique cigars in the world.

overview

Many enthusiasts who enjoy cigar history will know that Jamaica for many years grew some prime tobacco, much of which served to fulfill the needs of the British market. La Tropical was once one of the largest suppliers of Jamaican tobacco, and holds special mention as the first-ever joint cigar trademark on the Caribbean island, dating back to June 1889.

The story behind La Tropical is not an unusual one: started by two cousins who fled Cuba during the first War of Independence, they landed in Jamaica, where many of their expats resettled at the time. With access to tobacco seeds from the Vuelta-Abajo region, and the expertise to know where and how to plant them, La Tropical was born. The Machado cousins eventually opened a factory in Kingston, and became one of the largest cigar suppliers to Britain before the company was sold off after they both passed away.

CIGAR.com has purchased four different sizes of vintage La Tropical De Luxe premiums from a long-time collector – three are in tubos, and one is in cellophane – all in original packaging. Popular at the time, they are mellow in terms of strength, but its flavor profile is classic Jamaican, with a creamy texture highlighted by notes of vanilla, earth, and roasted nuts.
