Highclere Castle is an iconic British landmark with a history dating back to the Victorian era. It gained attention in recent years, because it was where the award-winning TV drama Downton Abbey was set.
The Castle’s owner, George Carnarvon, 8th Earl of Carnarvon, wanted to pay homage to Highclere's rich tradition by crafting a premium cigar reminiscent of something that would be enjoyed in the early 1900s when it was customary to enjoy a cigar with a glass of whiskey after dinner. To achieve his goal, the Earl enlisted the help of Foundation Cigar Co. founder Nick Melillo to create a blend fit for royalty.
Made at AJ Fernandez’s factory in Nicaragua, Highclere Castle is an absolute classic which utilizes a silky Ecuador Connecticut wrapper with filler tobaccos grown from a hybrid seed called Nicadan. The result is a smooth flavor with notes of pepper, leather, wood, and some citrus. A truly classic blend befitting of royalty.
