Crowned Heads cigars are built with a rebellious aura surrounding them. And this aura isn't some marketing ploy or an attempt to appear cooler than they really are. Like their first cigar, Four Kicks, Headley Grange is also inspired by a song. The song in question? Led Zeppelin's ‘When The Levee Breaks.' This iconic song was suggested for its ominous drumming that serves as the foundation of the famed song. The blend was crafted to mirror that beat.
To say the cigar simply mirrors the beat of ‘When The Levee Breaks' wouldn't do this blend justice. If you're unfamiliar with the song, the beat is fairly simple and at times gets lost in the background…which is perfect. Crafted by the talented hands of E.P. Carrillo, Headley Grange starts off with a simple base of cedar and leathery notes emanating from its core of Nicaraguan long-fillers. But that base of flavor soon adds a layer of pepper and espresso that's a luscious complement to the smooth core of the blend. And as the cigar moves along, these interchanging notes keep transitioning into an almost overwhelming crescendo. It's no wonder Headley Grange received a '91' rating and the #24 position overall on Cigar Aficionado's Top 25 Cigars of the Year rankings.
