Complex cigar that has many layers. Spicy to woody overall. Slow burn and an easy draw. Structure was a bit hit or miss from an even burn to a few touch ups. A solid smoke -good not great

Best cigar I’ve smoked. Came in the Elite sampler. Had to order more! Smooth as silk loads of flavors. Take it slow and enjoy.

I initially purchased these as an email special a year ago and immediately after lighting was transported back to the days of classic cuban flavor with a nice profile of cedar, leather, and a mild spice. Burn was consistent and draw was easy with lots of good smoke. I recently purchased another 10-pack, and found the label had changed (smaller) and profile was less cuban in it's profile. Will try a few more to see if this was a one-off or they've changed the filler composition.

Fantastic true tobacco flavors, nothing fancy or complex. Quality construction. Burns consistent and even with an attractive light grey ash and produces a lot of smoke. Seems to smoke quickly, so really concentrate on taking your time and enjoying this one. Cheers!!!

Amazingly smooth, great flavor and a sharp burn on each one. I keep a stock of these for a reason.

I usually prefer Dominican tobacco, but this cigar, with the Old Cuban and newer Honduran binder, is fantastic. To be cared for and smoked accordingly. There has been some batch variation but, all in all a favorite.

Absolutely fantastic cigar

Great, smooth draw with a very pleasant medium strength flavor. Normally I smoke half a cigar, and then come back later to finish it up, but this one I don't want to stop until it's a nub. Really only one flavor all the way down, but very pleasant, not too spicy, with good smoke. Very even burn with no hot spots in the three I've enjoyed. Better than today's Cubans I get in Brussels at the duty-free shop. Glad I bought the big bunch, or I'd already be coming back for more, and my 4 humidors are all full as it is.

I love this cigar. I love the fact that you occasionally discount this pre-embargo classic. This is my favorite smoke.

These are some really good cigars and recommend to buy them especially when you get a good deal. They're buttery with this bellowing smoke with a nice even burn. Supposedly, these have some Cuban tobacco in them and I believe it. They're not too strong but heady enough to let you know you're smoking a legit cigar. The shine is easily between an hour too an hour and a half.

The quality of the cigar was a 7 on a scale of 1-10; not what I was expecting. It was not buttery, it was really not as described... I did enjoy it tho... But it was nearly like most of Camacho cigars, and not very unique in the flavor profile...

I'm sot sure how much Pre-embargo tobacco is in each stick but I can taste the soil from the year of my birth, I can taste the grit and determination of the field workers, I can sense the care and touch of the master roller, but more importantly I can taste the Heart of Cuba and the Camacho Heritage running deep in this smooth elegant smoke for a fraction of the cost of other cigars. -El Cigar Paul Elischer

One of the most unique cigars on the market. I've read other claims and reviews that state they dont believe there is authentic cuban leaf rolled into these cigars. I'm by no means an expert but I have smoked a wide variety of cigars including real cubans and I can say that these are very different compared to 99% of non cuban cigars I've smoked. Take it for what its worth. Beautiful draw and construction as well. Every time these go on sale, I stock up. Happy smoking!

I’ve loved Camacho as my favorite brand since I started smoking cigars. This was one is just incredible. It’s smooth and very full of flavor, I let some frequent cigar buddies try them and they were blown back by how incredible it was. 100/10 would recvomend to anyone who appreciates cigars!

To me this is a great cigar through and through. It’s complex but smooth from start to finish. Cigar produces a lot of white smoke. Held it’s ash more than half way through. I found this to cigar to be somewhere between medium and strong. No bitterness And no aftertaste.

I have been nothing short of pleased with every purchase from cigar.com for many years - until this, my second purchase of the 5 pack Camacho Pre-Embargo Toro. Unfortunately, this batch is nowhere close to the quality of my earlier purchase and I venture to say contains less than 1% true pre-embargo tobacco. Construction is good, draw is almost too loose and the taste is far less rewarding as round 1... It has an acidic tang that is heavy with straw and burnt leather flavors. My real Havanas are FAR superior in all respects.

Medium/full flavor, medium/full strength, super smooth, wide open draw, excellent construction, nice thick smoke, burn-time @1.5 hrs. A very smooth, complex flavor profile that transitions often, you will not get bored. A very unique flavor and smoking experience. It has a good amount of red pepper in the start which opens up your pallet for what comes next. I have nothing negative to say about this excellent cigar, but, twist my arm for criticism? The draw could be a little tighter. My advice: Make an extra effort to smoke it slow and cool. This is important with any cigar but especially this one. The wide-open draw makes it very easy to overheat, burning the more nuanced flavors available. Slow down, take your time, and you will be richly rewarded with a one-of-a-kind smoke. Throughout the entire cigar were oodles of creamy sweet tobacco and an especially satisfying musty, rich, very smooth aged tobacco. Red pepper, white pepper, sweet tobacco, musty aged tobacco, salted earth, cedar, peat, leather, cocoa, nuts, vanilla cream, dark fruit, dry hay, and black tea are the flavors I was able to pick up at different times. The flavors shift and change a lot as you smoke through the cigar, just remember to keep it cool so you can taste them all. This cigar was a veritable cornucopia of flavor for me, very complex and interesting throughout the entire stick. The finish is long, smooth, and creamy. There is also a very distinct, deliciously satisfying flavor that I cannot identify. I've never tasted anything quite like it. I presume it to be from the ’62 Cuban leaf. I can’t do it justice with a description so you’ll just have to try it for yourself. I’ve gotten more enjoyment out of these cigars than any others I’ve smoked in recent memory. It’s an easy 95+. This cigar definitely belongs on your bucket list. Wait for a sale and buy as many as you can afford. Way to go Camacho!

Not sure how much Cuban tobacco is in here, but these are a very nice cigar and I will be keeping the Humi stocked with these. Enjoy.

Of the ten Pre-Embargos I’ve had the pleasure to smoke thus far, every one has featured flawless construction, amazing flavor, great draw, and fantastic smoke production. This is my favorite go-to cigar when the situation calls for the finest smokes in my humidor. Flavor profile: the inclusion of pre-embargo Cuban leaf to this blend gives the cigars a pleasant hint of spice and very clear notes of sea salt and dark chocolate on the palate. The flavors change subtly throughout its burn, becoming most intense and distinct between the halfway mark and the head - but this cigar is phenomenal from start to finish, with no bitter or weak draws at any point. The remaining (non-Cuban) leaves in the blend are of top-notch quality and support the entire profile perfectly, with the result being a wonderful smoking experience. An apt description that I heard from another discerning smoker bears repeating here: this cigar doesn’t necessarily taste like a “modern” Cuban coming out of Havana today - it tastes like most of us *imagine* a Cuban *should* taste like. Which may, in many cases, be an even better smoke in the opinion of the buyer; I would certainly argue that this is the case. Having recently deployed to Afghanistan, where legitimate Cubans are abundant and cheap, I will state unequivocally that these Camachos are (in my personally held opinion) much better than today’s authentic Cuban offerings. Regardless, if you’re on the fence, I highly recommend you pull the trigger and treat yourself to at least a single stick. These cigars are amazing, and I can’t imagine anything replacing their incredible spot on my roster when the last pack finally sells out.

Flavorful but extremely poor construction

These have such a unique blend it is hard to describe. I have never been one to taste all the flavors reviewers claim are in cigars but these are special. I have purchased 70 of these from various sites just so I don't run out. I have over 300 cigars including Padron and Fuente and these are my favorite.

This is an exceptional cigar for the price. It seems that the Cuban tobacco has mellowed through the years, but Camacho has done a memorable job of blending it such that I get the characteristic flavors and feel of a Cuban that I can only enjoy when I'm traveling abroad.

Ok flavor but nothing special that is worth any kind of hype. Ash is light and dust-like and burns quick.

I have purchased this Cigar before with consistently great results. I save them for special occasions because their isn’t anything like them around

If you ever smoke the old Camacho. Don’t try this is it. The only thing that is the same is the wrapper Weak smoke very disappointed

You have to remove them from the coffin place them in your humidor without the coffin for a couple of months at least longer the better but if you smoke them right out of the coffin they're not at the right humidity and way to woodsy you cannot taste the flavor on them put them in the humidor and they are unbelievably flavored strong flavored cigars each year has different flavors I have a few different years in my humidor right now definitely five star I use separate humidor for these cigars only the Camacho Liberties go in this humidor

I was skeptical of the "pre-embargo" hype, but last year I bought a five pack on sale, and I was pleasantly surprised. It definitely has a "classic" cigar flavor, with a unique spiciness that I assume comes from the small amount of pre-embargo tobacco inside along with the beautiful Corojo wrapper. The roll is very loose, but I found the construction and burn excellent, and despite the looseness of the roll, the cigar lasted around a hour. This spring they were again on sale, so I bought another five pack. They're a nice treat.

Fabulous cigar - from first puff (wow!) to last!

I have always enjoyed this cigar as it has a very interesting post light flavor enjoying just the wrapper. For me the entire smoke is flavorful strong and enjoyable. Occasionally there is some variability on the finish. A go to for me

Pre-Embargo (or Cubans as some of my friends call them) always have a distinctive flavor and are rolled thinner than your other cigars. I guess because this tobacco is packed with so much flavor they don't need to be rolled bigger.

There aren't enough OOOs in smooth to describe this stick. Burns nice and even, with a goog ash. Smoke output is great and all at a decent price.

I have to admit that I was skeptical at first. Prre-embargo tobacco is the Holy Grail of cigars. It seemed unlikely to say the least. Tbe pre-light aroma from the foot was vaguely familiar, but somehow different. I tasted pepper at first, from the aged Jalapa corojo wrapper leaf, no doubt. Then suddenly the pepper fades into the background and I get a slowly building spice that is familiar and unforgettable. The taste of the forbidden fruit wafts through my nose on the retrohale. The cigar starts off medium bodied. At the halfway point, it is a solid medium-full. The last third of this incredible stick is cigar nirvana. The solid core of deep spice dominates, yet there are brief moments of pepper and a faint ginger on the finish. All the while, the sheer strength builds, and by the time you reach the nub, it is a piowerhouse. I actually got just a little queasy and had to eat a little something afterwards to feel right again. What a magnificent cigar!

Fantastic Cigars.

Coincidentally, I had just returned from Cuba when these arrived, so I was able to compare them to a slew of true Cubans that I've been smoking. These are the real thing and as good as the Cuban R&Js that I brought back. They max out a little early, but he flavor and construction are top notch.

Quite enjoyed this cigar. Creamy, woody, grassy, nutty with a touch of pepper and med body. Smoked straight for the 1st 2 inches, then needed a touch up. Ash held for the two inches and was white. Smoked to the nub.

This was the best cigar I have had in many years. It was great to taste what a real Cuban cigar was like in the early 1960s. I would recommend Camacho Pre-Embargo Toros to every cigar smoker out there.

These are incredible sticks. Consistent, smooth, and the preebargo tobacco deffinately makes it completely different that anything else. They’re pricey, but they’re worth it!

Nothing special about these, especially for the money. They were good cigars, but I've had others that were just as good and for as much as one-third of this price. Quite disappointed. But, on the bright side (and as usual) Cigar.com sent them to me in perfect condition.

If a flavorful smooth drawing cigar with a helluva pedigree is what you want, Camacho Pre-Embargo Toro is what you need. My second or third time around with ordering this little brown gems and they do no disappoint.

I bought these expecting this great tasting cigar , instead this cigar was one of the worst cigars I've ever smoked..first it was very loose rolled,would not stay lit and just tasted awful..I have been smoking for over 25 years and have smoked just about everything out there,also having lived in Miami ,I have smoked real Cuban cigars..but this is not a quality cigar...I don't know what is wrong,bad batch or what,just glad didn't pay premium price....sorry but I have to be honest...

This stick is one of my favorites. Camacho is always high on my must have list anyways. I try to keep an ample supply in my humidor at all times. This cigar is bold but not overpowering. It has an easy draw from the first light to the end. The flavor is earthy with some hints of cocoa and spice. I would recommend this cigar to anyone. My only wish is that it came in a gordo.

Ok The first time I bought these 5 pks at a great price too a few years ago they were awesome.. the 2nd and 3rd times they no longer tasted so cuban, just a strong cigar that did not stand out among others to me for such a high price. Great packaging, arrived fresh and I smoked one instantly from opening. Camacho PE is simply the best cigar I smoked thus far. Being my first Cuban Cigar, I was surprise how smooth but full the taste is. And the smoke just billows with an even burn start to finish. I usually smoke most of my cigars to the ring but this one I pull the ring off and smoke to my fingers was burning! Yeah they're that good!

This is one of the best cigars I have had. After the 2nd one I ordered 20 more. It is medium with a wonderful flavor, burns great and no after taste.

I have been fortunate enough to smoke a few genuine Cuban cigars (Cohiba being among th). The pre-embargo, although a good cigar, lacks the construction, as well as the taste of the Cubans I have smoked. With that being said, the Pre-Embargo cigars still have a distinct taste and are worth the price IF ON SALE. I cannot see buying a box of these cigars but five in your humidor is definitely a plus. I would recommend these to "seasoned" smoker.

Excellent smoke! As an avid Cuban smoker, I must admit I was a little skeptical about the quality of these cigars. But, wow, those worries quickly went up in smoke. Very well rolled, which is so important when puffing an aged stick. I have read reviews about these saying that they were too"airy". I don't know about you, but I prefer an easy draw over sucking on a cigar just to get a tiny puff out of it. The draw is very easy, and the flavors morph as you go. Overall very peppery with a smooth tobacco undertone. Mellows toward the end and really opens up with complex ginger and toasted marshmallow flavors. Please try this smoke if you get the chance.

This is a beautiful cigar. Starts off basic and gets more complex as you go. Easy draw, good burn consistency. One of my favorites. Rivals any premium cigar.

I was intrigued and wanted to try this cigar as I have heard many good things about it. I was not disappointed. It has great flavor it Burns great. I realize that is not a hundred percent Cuban leaves but it was a great smoke nonetheless. I just ordered 10 more. So I do highly recommended it.

The rich flavors of cedar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a little leather started within the first couple of minutes. A goodly amount of smoke which I love as I enjoy the visual aspects of smoking a cigar, too. The flavors carried throughout the cigar; and got a little more complex about half-way through.

Every so often, I get my hands on a Cuban cigar. And I'm here to tell you the Camacho Pre Embargo is in a class With any of the Cubans enjoy

fantastic cigar with a perfect draw and construction. Blasting notes of pepper with tons of rich flavor. Medium to full in body and definitely worthy of a treat.

This is the best cigar I have had. I am relatively new to the cigar game, but I have had enough top quality cigars that I feel my take on the Camacho Pre-Embargo is valid. It seems to burn a little faster than some of the others I have tried, but it burns clean without any runs. It seem that some cigars I have tried want to burn unevenly and I have to be vigilant as I smoke to keep the tip burning straight; not a problem on this one. I also noticed as I approached the end of the cigar, I was somewhat saddened that it was almost done. I have had some quality cigars that I am ready to put down and walk away from before I reach the end. I am no expert, but I know what I like and I like this cigar. If you are unsure of purchasing the cigar, read the reviews. Ultimately that is what the deciding factor was for me, and I am completely satisfied with this smoke.

Without a doubt, the finest cigar I've ever had. I don't smoke everyday, but if I had to, this is the one I'd want to. From the first draw it was as smooth a silk, I noticed a slight mustiness to the taste but that only added to the complexity and the flavor was consistant throughout. As I've heard they only get better with age, I've stocked up on these and I plan on keeping them in my humidor for as long as possible, enjoying one on only the most special of occasions. I'm a fan of the Camacho brand and this is their crown jewel, so do yourself a favor and pick up some of these. On second thought, don't. I want these all to myself.

Among the best cigars I've ever had the pleasure to smoke. Outstanding draw with a hearty and robust flavor that's so smooth you'll smoke the beauty to the smallest nub. The wrapper burns perfectly and the blend is truly one for the gods. Becoming harder and harder to find, I remember buying them when they popped up in the daily 3 deal. Those days seem so long ago now, I always knew I should've bought way more.

To be fully appreciated, this cigar should be smoked only by the experienced smoker of both CCs and NCs; it is as good tasting as any CC made today (I have a whole separate electric humidor of CCs--some with considerable age--and can easily compare). In fact, this cigar is what the future is: it is a CUBAN BLEND. Amazing grassy and hay taste, mild spicy sweet honey and musk--what some people call "cubanesque"--but more richer and sweeter flavor and fuller than anything made in Cuba. btw, Cuban blends existed in the past, so we will be going back to the future...

Pretty good cigar, but pricey. Excellent draw, a bit of an uneven burn, good flavor, burned pretty fast, but cool.

I am just a novice cigar smoker and really enjoyed smoking the Camacho. Burned very well and flavor was exceptional. I am not seasoned enough to tell you what flavors I was experiencing but they were beyond good. I would and have recommended this cigar to many friends.
