Overview

A Caldwell That Really Takes the Cake!

Yellow Cake was once a cigar handed out exclusively at Caldwell Cigar events, but this blend was so popular with attendees that Robert Caldwell decided to make it available for the masses to enjoy. This intriguing gem is a patchwork of leftover tobaccos from some of Caldwell’s most popular blends, all wrapped up into one delicious package.

The Dominican Corojo wrapper (used in Long Live the King) encases Corojo Ligero Dominican long-fillers and a Dominican Habano binder (both found in Eastern Standard and the King is Dead).

Smooth with spice and notes of earth, leather, and coffee, Yellow Cake is medium-bodied and fully indulgent—an absolute party in every puff. Since this blend is comprised of tobaccos from some of Caldwell’s other cigars, quantities are limited, so be sure to sample this incredible offering before supplies run out.

This cigar continues to improve
I have waited for a chance to try this cigar, but just could not find it in a smaller quantity, so I took a leap. When I first received them, I broke open a package and was pretty disappointed, however, after a month in the humidor there is a dramatic difference. I expect these to only get better with time. This is not a firmly rolled cigar and I really don't think the individual cigars scream of craftsmanship, however, now that they have been in the humidor, they are a nice afternoon smoke and I can now taste the ligero tobacco coming through, which I enjoy. If you have a humidor and the patience to let them set for a few months, I think you'll like them.

Caldwell Yellow Cake
Very good construction. Lights easily and burns evenly. Medium strength, medium-full body and has the taste and scents of a classic, well made cigar.

Bad burn
Taste is good, though constant relighting needed was disappointing thus 2 stars. Also, I’ve learned not to jump into 50 cigar deals blindly. They’ve become my casual and giveaway smoke.

Great Little Cigar
Love this Cigar, Some small cigars have draw issues or inconsistent from cigar to cigar. Not the case with this one. Great 20 minute smoke

Great Little Cigar
I have been looking for a great burning, great tasting 15 to 20 minute cigar. I took advantage of the special based on the reviews and info I read, hoping this cigar would do the trick. It Did. I liked it so much that I bought another 50 while it was on special. Since they are made with the trimmings and excess from other cigars, the taste of each varies slightly. Rolled well, great easy draw, and great amount of smoke and taste.

poor construction
Some easily began to shed their wrappers. Not my taste, won't order again or recommend. Personal opinion.

Quick smoke
This is my go to 20 minute smoke. Decent flavor and burns even.

Short but stout
Not sure how or where the name “Yellow Cake” came from? This little cigar is strong and bites back. I like the size for those times you may not have time for a larger cigar, but it just not one of my favorites.
