Asylum Straight Jacket, the latest concoction from Christian Eiroa and Tom Lazuka, features a powerhouse blend requiring some heavy-duty restraints. A more limited production than previous blends within the Asylum moniker, Eiroa and Lazuka set out to make a blend that was stronger than ever before....and they succeeded. Full-bodied cigar fans will go crazy over this full-scale assault for the senses.
It’s hard not to first take notice of the band, which features an edgy, illustrated sketch of a straight jacket and truly sets the tone for the cigar itself. On the outside, a chocolate brown wrapper that’s 100% smooth starts things off on a high note. Dense-flavor notes of earth, pepper, cocoa, and coffee develop over the course of the experience, building in intensity and really knocking you back in your chair. An all-Nicaraguan puro, this is not a cigar for the beginner and not to be taken lightly. But if you can handle it, Asylum Straight Jacket has a whole lot of intensity to offer.
