You have to start somewhere, and Insidious by Asylum is just the place.
This handmade is mellow and has a slightly sweetened cap, making it ideal for beginners. But the beauty of Insidious is that it has appeal for seasoned smokers as well.
The Asylum brand was created by Kevin Baxter and Tom Lazuko, and the original aim of the company was to provide enthusiasts with a totally unique cigar experience. This boutique brand has hit the big-time and, with the help of industry great Christian Eiroa, has managed to command the respect and attention it deserves. They're best known for huge ring gauges, but here with Insidious they take a very different approach.
One place the Asylum portfolio was lacking was in the realm of sweetened caps. Insidious fills that gap, but the sweetness on the cap of this Ecuador Connecticut wrapper is very subtle, not overly powerful or cloying. This mellow-bodied creation also includes a Honduran binder and a mix of Honduran filler leaves. Notes of nuts, earth, and hints of pepper unveil gradually throughout the smooth, relaxing length of the experience. If you're new to the world of cigars, or if you simply want a more laid-back option to keep on hand, Insidious by Asylum is just what the doctor ordered.
I've been loving this cigar for a couple month, by far my favorite. It has an easy draw, nice white creamy smoke, very tasty throughout, the spicy aspect increases near the finish almost too much. This is a nice relaxing and slow burning cigar for anytime or occasion, I recently met the creators of this fine brand of cigars and was impressed by them for their knowledge of tobacco and care for their customers.
