The initial release of Asylum 13 Medulla Oblongata was nothing shy of impressive. It was a one-of-a-kind release with an exquisite blend of tobaccos sold in boxes of 50 with 25 Medulla, a parejo cigar, and 25 Oblongata, which is box-pressed. The brand decided to turn to the dark side with this blend’s follow-up and released a version aptly called Medulla Oblongata Maduro.
A dark, oily Mexican San Andres wrapper masks a combination of Honduran long-fillers, giving this cigar a slightly sweeter profile than the original with notes of baking spices, leather, dark chocolate, and some oak. Like the original Medulla Oblongata, this release is available in boxes of up to 50, with half of the cigars labeled Medulla (round) and half Oblongata (box-pressed).
