Someone has to be the best. Alec Bradley's stunning masterpiece blend Tempus Maduro could well be the top maduro vitola in a crowded field of very good cigars. Using my new rating system, let's break down Tempus Maduro & see what makes it so outstanding. Price-Oh,oh! Going to have to take a few point hit for the fact that it's just too damn expensive. Okay. Good cigars cost real money, but I have strict standards. After all, price is the 1st thing I address in this new review era. 12pts. Flavor-Tempus Maduro is the most fantastically complex, excitingly full flavored maduro around, in my eyes. Just try it & see if you don't agree. DEE-licious! 15pts. Construction- Spot on, like all AB products. Uber firm & heavy in the hand. The San Andres wrapper is eye-popping! Dripping with Mexican oils & tastes fantastic without even being lit! 15pts. Burn-Unlike other AB blends, I have not noticed an issue with Tempus Maduro. Even Tempus has the occasional sideways burn, but Maduro performs well overall. Not perfect, however. 13pts. Overall Impression-It's my favorite maduro cigar, bar none. High praise, considering the competition. I prefer it to San Lotano, Undercrown, 5 Vegas "AAA", even more than I adore Diesel! Did I really say that? 15pts. Personal Observations-It pains me to see a 10 clam price tag on any cigar. Thankfully, Tempus is often found on sale, with incentives attached or even in clearance at a fraction of the MSRP. The ones I smoke, I get in samplers, or on special & can say I usually spend around 3 bucks for a 5" X 50 robusto. At that price they have no peers! At 10 simoleans, I can find a dozen maduros, almost as fine, for 1/3 the cost. 13pts. Highly recommended. Rating-93pts.
