A medium-bodied, everyday Connecticut.
Alan Rubin, the founder/owner of Alec Bradley, spares no expense or time when creating phenomenal cigars. Never rushed, he patiently ages his tobaccos for years in order to achieve perfect balance and smooth characters no matter how strong or tame his blends may be. Alec Bradley cigars have turned many heads in the industry, earning ratings of '90' or above from Cigar Aficionado, including a '94' for Alec Bradley Family Blend and his Tempus line. For this reason, Alec Bradley cigars are sought-after among the most elite aficionados and cigar makers in the business.
Usually, an "American Classic" blend would contain a mellower Connecticut-grown, Connecticut Shade wrapper. However, to achieve maximum flavor, Alan Rubin took Connecticut-seeds and grew them in the super fertile soils of Honduras, creating a full-flavored Connecticut wrapper with a semi-dark hue. This excellent wrapper conceals a long-leaf filler of Nicaraguan and Honduran tobaccos for a smooth and creamy full-flavored, mellow to medium blend that's to die for. We're confident this cigar will be a staple in your humidor.
Absolutely spectacular cigar at any price, but at $5 a stick, it's a pinch yourself moment. Creamy flavors with a little spice. Medium-bodied with perfect construction and burn. It consistently holds a 3"-4" ash!! A few cigar makers have captured that authentic delicious Cuban flavor. Oliva, CAO, Perdomo, Don Pepin Garcia, Rocky Patel, and Alec Bradley just to name a few. What they do that the current Cubans do not is maintain the flavor and superb construction and burn in EVERY stick that you light. Having burned through many boxes of Cuban Montecristo #2s, among others, one stick will be fantastic and the next a turd. Not so with these brands and Alec Bradley is as consistent as any of them. In my rating system, these beauties rate an easy 94 and almost 95.
I'm enjoying this smooth and creamy smoke as I type. The phrase "Soft Leather" keeps popping up in my head...the smoke is wonderful, smooth and satisfying. Nothing over powering here; just a well-balanced stick worth every dime. There's simply no way you can argue with $98 for a box of 20. I would suggest these make a wonderful gift for the occasional smoker, a great every-other day smoke and simply the best 'bulk' addition to your humidors. Bring some friends (and light beers) to the porch with this one...you'll want another one. Long ashes, gentlemen!
One of my favorite smokes.
