Anyone who knows me knows I’ve never met a La Aroma de Cuba I didn’t love, and Noblesse is no exception. I have fond memories of the original LE release a decade ago; I’m happy to say the switch to a San Andrés wrapper was a great choice. This is a must-have, and I highly recommend the Coronation (Toro).

Pepín has some trademark moves within his blends, and with La Aroma de Cuba Noblesse, the inclusion of a long-filler leaf from Namanji is one of them. Namanji is a relatively new region for tobacco, located less than 20 miles from Estelí, where the García family has been cultivating exceptionally flavorful crops from the rich black soil.

Without a doubt, my favorite vitola in Made Man is M1911 A1. Coronas are classic and often utilized by blenders for testing purposes, so for me, it’s usually the best size in a line. The interplay between minerals, cedar, and a delightful floral bouquet make it suitable for any time; it’s attractive appearance and artwork are simply a bonus.

Made by Aganorsa and using their prized tobaccos, Made Man is the epitome of a Nicaraguan boutique blend. I was part of the Test Team for this cigar, and every single sample was top-notch, enjoyed by us all. I can easily enjoy these all-day long with my coffee, and the SMG 1928 Toro is my preferred pairing.

I go through phases where I smoke the same strength profile for a while, and then repeat the cycle with something different. While revisiting medium-bodied blends I was amazed at the complexity of Made Man… With each one I enjoy my palate discovers a new nuance I didn’t experience before, and that’s why it’s now in my regular rotation.

After Terence Reilly offered employees an Aganorsa brand training, I began to deliberately seek out their cigars to put what I learned to the test. While there are tell-tale tastes to Aganorsa tobacco, with Made Man it feels more like a blending of styles to create the ultimate puro. Enjoy alongside a Glenfarclas and Ginger Beer on a warm night.

Justo Eiroa of JRE Tobacco came to our offices a few months back, handed out some cigars, and after one Aladino Corojo, I was sold: I can’t believe I never had an Aladino before! This Honduran puro is now part of my regular rotation, with its notes of baking spice, cedar, and white pepper rich on the palate thanks to its Corojo wrapper.

Fun fact: the Aladino name stems from a vintage movie theater in Danlí, Honduras, which was converted into state-of-the-art factory by the Eiroa family. It’s there that Aladino Corojo is made. You’ll notice that between the “A” on the band are the years 1947 and 1961, and that’s a nod to Cuban cigars of those years which this blend proudly recreates.

If I could describe the Aladino Corojo in one word, it’s balance. Construction is top-notch, the flavor profile is rich and complex, but none of the notes overpower one another. I prefer the Toro size after a good meal with some bourbon as a nightcap. If you can retrohale, there are floral notes which become more present – delightful!

Father and son team Julio and Justo Eiroa are keeping the authentic Cuban Corojo experience alive, but in Honduras. Their ‘92’ rated Aladino Corojo was also a Top 25 pick by Cigar Aficionado in 2019, and I’ve enjoyed them ever since. There’s such balance to this blend, and its profile is very reminiscent of what most would call a “classic cigar”.
