Boasting rare tobaccos from up to 15 different countries.
Since Drew Estate cigars debuted in the 1990s, they have gone against the traditional view of cigars in the United States. With the clever slogan, “the rebirth of cigars,” Drew Estate has taken the cigar world by storm with its various blends and mixtures that use Nicaraguan long filler as their base. Their cigars have appealed to long time cigar aficionados and the next generation of cigar enthusiasts alike. These blends have established Drew Estate as a major name in cigars.
When people think about tobacco, they really limit themselves to the major tobacco growing countries like the Dominican Republic, Honduras, and Nicaragua. What most people fail to realize, is that great tobacco is grown and cultivated all over the world. Typically rare African, Himalayan and boutique tobaccos are grown in short supply making them both rare and unique. The limitations on the quantity of this tobacco make it something that deters most cigar makers. However, where most cigar makers see difficulty, Drew Estate sees opportunity. The Natural line utilizes up to 15 different tobaccos when blending the various sizes. These tobaccos come from all corners of the globe. When these tobaccos are mixed with the premium long filler Nicaraguan tobacco and crafted by the expert rollers at Drew Estate, the result is a cigar unlike anything anyone has ever encountered. This all-natural blend is a must try for any cigar enthusiast.
As a big fan of the Pimp Stick, I thought I would try something else in the Natural line. I opted out for the Limited Edition Irish Hops. The initial sniff before flame promised spice. Toast was easy with clouds of dancing smoke....then it kind of went South. The taste was so sweet it nearly made me gag. I was expecting more pepper or hop flavor not syrup. I have to admit I had to get a large glass of water to make it palatable. On the burn side it stayed fairly even producing great clouds that I enjoyed watching. The last third it became hard to keep it lit and the wrapper cracked and peeled near the band. Was I disappointed overall? Yes, probably won't purchase these again but go back to the mellow pimp stick.
I cannot say enough good things about this cigar. I am a large fan of Drew Estates entire line, but in no way judge all their products based on name. This cigar has a sweetness that at first is a little intense, but after five minutes the smoke and the heat cut the sweetness to a caramel like flavor. The cigar itself burns smooth with no trouble canoeing and lights easily. I normally use a butane torch lighter so as to not adjust the flavor of my cigar, but I can honestly say that this cigar is best complimented with a wood match of strip of cedar. The smoke is a delightful medium body that intoxicates the nose and tongue. Sweet and spice come together and are expertly tied together with a light leathery undertone. It has a medium draw and can be smoked for forty-five minutes to an hour. A good glass of scotch or like spirit is the best way to enjoy this.
This is an easy light, good draw, excellent aroma and flavor. A bit rich, so save it for the end of the day after a grilled steak and a merlot.
This cigar, along with the other offerings from Drew Estates definitely shake the stigma of the "old man cigar". I have yet to smoke one that doesn't have a pleasing taste and even more pleasing aroma. The Juicy Lucy is also the perfect size to enjoy when you don't have too much time to relax. It's a nice mini-break cigar
all you need to know is "i love lucy"
Great tasting and very enjoyable.
