Has anyone had the new Starbucks Via instant coffee? I'm not a huge fan of Starbucks coffee, but this is the best instant coffee I've ever tasted! It won't replace my French press, but its really nice if I want a cup and don't have time to brew it.

Charities that sell stuff?

I lieu of buying Christmas gifts from stores, I'm going to be buying most gifts this year from charities. For the ladies I'm going to buy things from the Susan G. Komen site, but I need a site that sells better things for guys. I was hoping to find something that may benefit sick kids or cancer research/treatment, and would be a decent gift for a guy. Any ideas?

Hey Guys. I know a couple of you on here are computer wizzes, so maybe you can help me out. I am having trouble viewing a good number of videos recently and I don't know why. They don't come up as broken but there is an empty box where the video would be and there is a small icon in the upper left hand corner that is a small page with colored geometric figures on it. Anyone know what this is about?

Ok, well I wrote a rant a while back and thought this might be a good place to blow off some steam from time to time so I'll just have a continuos thread of rants going. I used to have a great outlet for this when I hosted a radio show but now I work in Law Enforcement so poitical views are kept more bottled up and I'm REALLY about to explode.
I have never in my life been so sick and tired of the F***ING media in this country! It doesn't matter which way you lean on the issues there is absolutly no way you can deny the total liberal media bias almost everywhere you look! CNN is by far one of the WORST offenders as always! I actually read the headline "GOP to Blame for Economic Meltdown" today in big bold letters on the screen. Now this was about a subtle as Morton Downey Jr on a 3 day scotch binge. If they aren't bashing the entire republican party then its the hourly public dismemberment or Sarah Palin. You would think she was Courtney F***ING Love to hear the media and the Hollywood "Deletes" talk about her. But anything negative said about Obama is just a "Lie from the Right Wing Propaganda Machine" that is the McCain Campaign. I have never in my life been so totally disgusted with what I see on TV. I always wonder why all the idiots are against us... then it becomes very clear why!

Dog

So.... here's the scenario:

Last week the girlfriend and myself went to the Humane Society and looked at dogs/puppies...
We saw two we liked and went back three hours later and went into a kennel and saw a Pointer Mix dog...
Well this cute pup fell asleep in my arms and I knew I was hooked, but I need to sleep on all major decisions.
The next morning we were actually driving to the Humane Society to get the dog and I called the "Landlord" out of respect (the lower tenants have had dogs before, I knew they were legit) but when I called HE flipped out and say "Absolutely no dogs" and was rude about it...

Long story short he's a Douche and we're moving out in march now...

Question:
For apartment/duplex dwelling what are some of the best breeds out there??? We wanted a HOUND breed for it howled and didn't bark (neighbors) and for it isn't the MOST active dog but still fun to have around!

I really am surprised it took this long. Usually after a tragedy involving a firearm, the anti-gun nuts are quicker on the trigger. Stepping up to the moonbat microphone in the aftermath of the Ft. Hood shooting we have Chicago's Thug Mayor, Richard Daley. Daley opines that this happened because of America's love of guns! He says, "Unfortunately, America loves Guns. We love guns to a point where that uh we see devastation on a daily basis. You don't blame a group."

Americans don't love guns, you fool. Americans love freedom; and American's cherish their right to own and to use firearms, if necessary, to defend those freedoms. This truth is so basic that even Daley should understand it: Guns don't kill people, people kill people. There's another little saying that I like more. "If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns." Actually, that's not quite correct. Only the government and the criminals will have guns. And another little reminder: Blaming guns is the easy way out.

If you blame guns for violence in the inner city, you don't have to address the black culture of violence. If you blame guns for Ft. Hood, you don't have to address the Islamic culture of violence. You focus on objects, not people, and objects don't vote. You're safe in your demagoguery.

Gratitude Thread

This is a thread that I have done on other various boards that I am a member of. It helps me remember the good things when they can be easily forgotten and seems to work well. Thought I would start it here too. I have a lot to be thankful for in my life and especially at this moment in time. Tomorrow, my family will move in to our new home, a dream home in my wife's and my vision. It will be the home we live in for the rest of our lives, the home my children will grow up in....For this I am grateful and in the spirit of this board, I would like to share something special from my humi. The first person (wish I could do more) that wants to take me up on this offer, reply to my message here and PM me details. I do not care if it's your 1st post or your 1000th post, there are no strings attached and nothing expected or wanted in return. The only thing I ask is a little patience in getting it out I will be extremely busy the rest of this week. I would love to hear what others are grateful for in their lives if you care to share.....

Just thought I'd make a new thread a little more light hearted than all the political posts. I do love a good heated discussion, but I love some football too!!!

How about the Cowboys? My god they won finally! One of the most talent packed teams in the NFL have looked like a bunch of high school kids for the past several weeks! They basically lucked out this week with the win against the Bucs. The horse collar penalty saved them on what would have been a punt and Tampa would have run the clock out.
The Titans (Ten. not the Gurkahs ha) proved to me Monday night that they truely are a tough team that has the heart to be a serious contender even without Vince Young. (who was my back up in my fantasy football league damnit! haha)

I'm a beer fan. A good quality craft and import beer fan. Are there any others like me who enjoy a good stout or maybe an IPA? Some of my favorites are the Goose Island IPA and their 312. Boulevard makes a great IPA, plus an Imperial stout, Saison Brit, and a great beer called Two Jokers. For imports i'm a fan of any great belgin beer. What are some of your favorite craft beers.

Figured since we have a what are you smoking and what did you drink thread, we should have a what's for dinner thread. I also know we have some posters who are/were chefs or just plain culinary enthusiasts.

I got a some good ole fashioned Louisiana red beans and rice simmering away on the stove. Some of you may know that my girlfriend is from Baton Rouge, so I decided to put together a traditional dish from LA. I may be the only person in this city of 2 million cooking red beans and rice tonight. Sadly no corn bread baking :(

Bank Fraud

Somewhere along the lines, someone got my debit card number and started racking up charges fast.

The funny part... I called my bank, and pointed out the charges with issues that I didnt charge, and the woman automatically assumed that the cigar.com charges were part of the fraud. Im like, no, those are mine.. and she got silent and wierd after that.

For the last 6 years we have received well over $1000 in gift cards, about the same amount in cash, ipod, camel packs, lighters, clothing etc. I have 2 things I would like to invite you to if you are interested.
