From the industry's leading accessory company now hails a fine, premium cigar. Xikar HC Series earned '91' and '92' ratings from Cigar Aficionado and earned Top 25 Best Cigar accolades for 2008 and 2009!
Xikar has been a titan in the cigar accessories business and it seemed like only a matter time before they got into making cigars themselves. For this special project, they tapped into the talents of Jesus Fuego. Fuego was raised in a family steeped in five generations of experience in the tobacco industry. Born in Cuba, Fuego was brought up within the traditions of his family and even studied at the University of Havana.
HC Series Connecticut features a tri-country blend of Costa Rican, Mexican, and Nicaraguan tobaccos. The Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper is seamless and soft to the touch. The three-country blend makes for complex flavors of cashews, cedar, and cream that round out a fantastic mild-medium bodied smoke.
The HC Series CT petite corona is a splendid cigar. Even the presentation is superb. The box is, in a word, exquisite; so nice I gave it to one of my lady friends to store her jewelry (my jewels should have it so good!).
Now about the cigar: The construction is flawless and the seamless wrapper is top drawer. The draw is absolutely effortless and the burn is, with slightest rotation, even with never a need to re-light. The body is a solid medium and balance is a good as one can obtain in a Honduran, in my opinion. Best of all is the flavor. Moi bueno! It reminds of the great flavor of the no longer made Larranaga brand of the 90s (in the short corona size, of course) except the HC Connecticut is smoother and tastier.
Another nice feature by the maker is a tiny tab on the cigar band to make it easier to remove. And you'll want to remove the band for sure because this stick smokes smooth as silk down to the last inch.
