E.P. Carrillo flies high with this latest release.
Ernesto Perez-Carrillo founded the El Credito Cigar Company in Miami, Florida and became the manufacturer of the highly popular La Gloria Cubana cigars. Born in Cuba, he mastered the art of cigar making and is one of the best blenders in the industry. He has since moved on to form another fantastic cigar operation, EPC Cigar Company, and with that the E.P. Carrillo brand was born.
E.P. Carrillo's cigars have an amazing reputation. Their blends use premium, well-aged tobaccos that fit any enthusiast's palate. For their Cardinal Series, the same principles are set forth: well-balanced blend, quality tobaccos, and attention to detail. Where the Cardinal Series differs is that the blend is intense. Much stronger than the rest of his portfolio, Cardinal Series is loaded with fillers from Nicaragua and the Dominican. The blend is then finished off with an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. Notes of leather, spice, and earth are present and potent. Make sure you sit down for this one.
The Cardinal series runs a bit of the stronger side yet the smoke is rather smooth. Even though this blend is light on spice the power is still there, so don’t let it fool you. Leather is in the forefront of this cigar with a toasty bread note with just a hint of coffee and earth. For heavy hitters out there, this blend packs one serious punch.
Why He Likes It: E.P. Carrillo’s Cardinal Series is one of the most complex blends I’ve experienced in a long time. With so many nuances, it’s tough to specify each one. Balanced is the word. Strong, yes, but this might be the smoothest full-bodied cigar on the market today. Nothing is out of place with this masterful blend.
