San Lotano, the much hyped and talked about blend from master blender AJ Fernandez is finally available online from Cigar.com.
San Lotano Oval comes from AJ's factory in Esteli, Nicaragua. The Oval features a truly unique shape. The best way to describe it would be an oval shaped box-press, if you can imagine that. The unique shape and aged tobaccos truly makes this blend an anomaly in the industry and one of the finest cigars to come out this year.
Why mess with perfection? Probably because you have some choice maduro wrappers to work with. At least, that's what we're assuming with AJ's latest creation. Take everything you like about the original Oval except add some espresso and cocoa notes. Definitely, a blend that lives up to the San Lotano name.
I don't get much out of the reviews give taste characterizations like chocolate, leather and earth. To me that's meaningless and many times just pretentious. The San Lotano Oval Maduro, and the regular Maduro, are both very crisp smokes. I would call it full flavored, lots of taste, but to me it tastes like tobacco, which is what I want a cigar to taste like. It has none of what I call that dull flavor or feeling. Leaves a nice tingle on the tongue like a good hot sauce. They burn evenly, last well and they hold together.
