A Dominican Puro grown from Vuelta Abajo, Cuban-seed.
Available in Habano or maduro options, Flores y Rodriguez Cabinet Seleccion cigars by Pinar del Rio are the super premiums in the PDR line.
Produced in a small factory in the Dominican Republic, Pinar del Rio cigars offer complex aromas and full-flavored characteristics that create a long-lasting finish. These are truly one of the Dominican's most flavorful cigars. This great-tasting line is a collaboration between PDR frontman Abe Flores and the famed Rodriguez brothers, who developed a medium to full-bodied Dominican experience that's rich with flavor and complexity.
Considered a Dominican puro, Flores y Rodriguez Cabinet Seleccion cigars contain Dominican Habano Vuelta Abajo long-leaf filler tobaccos, and sport either a Colorado Habano wrapper or a semi-sweet, oily maduro wrapper. This combination delivers wood notes mixed with cocoa and a hint of citrus on the finish. Smooth and elegant yet packed with heartiness, this is one Dominican that will thoroughly satisfy.

I wanted to like this cigar, but in my opinion, it was really nothing special. I will keep it in my humidor for a few months and see if anything changes my opinion.

I obtained this stick through a PDR sampler I got for Christmas. I aged it about 2 months in my Humidor. Cigar is very well built with a nice oily Habano wrapper and smells amazing. It lit very easily and started of very creamy with a nice hit of pepper through the first third. The draw and burn were flawless. At the beginning of the second third I clearly noticed a transition to a much sweeter, vanilla flavor with a nutmeg/allspice nose - it was quite beautiful. The cigar finished strong with the return of a more peppery, cedar hue with traces of the vanilla and spices. A very delightful smoke and one I would purchase a box of.
The name is a mouthful, but the cigar itself is perfect in size and construction. Medium-bodied, I chose this newcomer due to the fact it’s made in the DR — I’m trying more cigars from there to broaden my horizons. The smoke is very nice. Lots of complex nuances and a light spice helps this FyR hold up to a whiskey on the rocks.
